Who wants to go back to the Notre Dame game? When they were overrated and we stole their show… When Coach Strong was finally praised as the answer to all of our woes… When we jumped to #11 in the polls (LOL). The good ole days am I right?

*Disclaimer: I did not intentionally write that to rhyme…

What a horrible Saturday Longhorns. I know I’m not alone when I say that I am starting this week with a defeated spirit. Let’s dive in to what transpired over the weekend.

After a text message from my college bestie who now lives in LA and a deep desire to visit Stillwater (why Nichole why?) I bought tickets and made a plan to travel to watch the horns play Oklahoma St and prepared myself to endure the scary as hell mascot Pistol Pete (still having nightmares).

I traveled Friday to Dallas, picked up my friend at the airport and went to bed a little after midnight. Got up at 4am and was on the road to Stillwater by 5am…

Have you ever been to Oklahoma? I know Oklahoma sucks but my first real experience driving across the state just solidified how absolutely awful that place really is. NORMAN L O L.

As a recruit, I just couldn’t imagine touring ou and Norman then touring UT and Austin and being you know what I think I really want to live in Norman…

And then on to Stillwater. Here’s a fun fact: Did you know that Stillwater only has 44,000 people and 23,000 of those are at OSU? Did you know their best restaurant is probably Wendy’s?

ANYWAYS… The campus is pretty. The stadum is tiny. And yeah that’s about it for Stillwater.

Ugh. I don’t even know where to begin with this game. Offensively yeah we were alright. Great run game with the Warren – Foreman combo… you know until they both got hurt (update warren is out for ou. yay.)

Defense. What happened?! WHAT HAPPENED?!!!!!! WHAAAAAAT HAAAAAAAPPENED?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 49 points to OSU. What a joke yet no one is laughing.

Special teams. AGAIN WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!?!?! Not 1. Not 2. BUT 3 blocked extra points and 1 missed field goal and then you know we finally go for 2 and miss it.

We looked sloppy, slow, and played like we didn’t even want to be there. I definitely wish I hadn’t been there by the 3rd quarter. I traveled 900 miles total to be let down by a team that I care so much about. And be annoyed by that obnoxious Poke fight song.

One may ask, Nichole do you regret traveling all the way to Stillwater to watch Texas? Losing Nichole says yeah. Winning Nichole would be bragging about this game until hell froze over. But alas…for another week I am losing Nichole.

The journey to the cliff this week was horrific and people were ready to jump on the very full bus of mine.

Final score: 31-49 Loss 

And here we are yet again in the middle of a coaching controversy with the Red River Rivalry quickly approaching. Is this 2014? Is this 2013? Can we just catch a break for once? Vance Bedford has been demoted (A year too late in my opinion) and now Strong basically has to win out to keep his job which absolutely breaks my heart. I’ve been upset for him for days.

Heads up to those with Strong on the chopping block. Lose Strong and you lose this team and basically every recruit.

Here is my plea to the players.. This game is the biggest game of the year. It is full of passion, hatred, excitement, and memories. This rivalry is everything. Things are screwed up but I beg of you to go into this game prepared. Don’t play for us fans. Don’t play for the donors controlling the decisions. Play for each other because you are a family and right now you need each other more than ever. And most of all..Play for Charlie Strong. He needs you. He needs your effort and heart to be laid out on that field because as awful as it is his future depends on the outcome of this game.

I still believe in Charlie Strong. I believe he is the answer. I really do. I just hope he gets the time he needs.

And now my journey is back to the moment that inspired me to write my first post. Hate week is here. We are journeying to the cliff in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl my friends and I’m so ready to be reunited with other dedicated Longhorns like myself.

Enjoy hate week my fellow Longhorns. Harass some sooners and enjoy your days of bragging rights…just in case we have to endure a year of ou. And above all never forget how much ou truly sucks.
