Nichole & The Cliff: We got #Errbody

The first Wednesday of every February is a special day of the year. It’s a time when football obsessed adults come together to stalk, post about, and persuade on social media the top high school football players in the state.

Kind of a creepy if you put too much thought into it. So I won’t.

It was a glorious morning as the sun rose in Austin, Texas. The skies were painted with a beautiful burnt orange because it’s God’s favorite color. Obviously.

I woke promptly at 6:30 a.m. ready for the day like it was Christmas morning. Not to be mistaken with the name of one of the recruits who had committed to Texas the night before, Christmas-Giles… Someone’s parents are Christmas enthusiasts apparently.

I placed my leather jacket back in the closet and switched it out for my burnt orange pullover and boots. Ready for the day.

I drove to work. Logged into Longhorn Network on ESPN. And did my very best to multi-task between what would be the one of the most insane things that has ever evolved at The University of Texas at Austin.

Texas started the day at 35 overall in the recruiting class rankings. Which from a Longhorn standpoint is pretty unacceptable. But Longhorn nation had this understanding that these kids were going to shock us.

Top recruits started to flood in and Malik Jefferson was giving us an inside look into the Texas offices as we started taking over. One by one.

Brandon Jones.

The name that caused the twitter wars and the one everyone wanted.

Top safety (which Lord knows Texas needs) and an ESPN 300 player. This kid is good. I mean… REAL GOOD. And he was deciding between Texas and that other school an hour or so away from Austin that produced this train wreck that if the Dallas Cowboys pick up I will be so done with them, but that is a rant for another time.

In case you were wondering… He picked Texas and cry baby Daylon Mack was a little bitter.

The day continued on and the hype around the Texas recruits was building steam. We landed Jeffrey McCulloch, Erick Fowler,  Chris Daniels, D’Andre Christmas Giles, and Jordan Elliott. All huge commits that could (and should) see early playing time for Texas. Texas eventually climbed from 35 to No. 11 in the recruiting class rankings.

Longhorn nation owes Malik Jefferson. He was the persuading factor in these recruits decision. Thank you unofficial Mayor Malik.

I am more fired up than ever for my return to The Cliff this year! Because just in case you forgot… WE GOT ERRBODY #LETSRIDE #BELIEVE
